A Hidden Gem
in the heart of Surrey

There's plenty to see here. We've a unique collection of iconic aircraft and engines from the golden age of British aircraft manufacturing. You can discover hundreds of model aircraft and instrument panels on display as well as a variety of fascinating aviation memorabilia. 

 

Book a tour to come on board our Avro Shackleton and meet some of the former crew of this wonderful aircraft or climb inside the nose section of our Canberra. You can also take a walk around 30 acres of parkland (dogs are welcome on leads) and pay a visit to our viewing area where you can see the activity at Gatwick Airport - a must for any plane spotters.

And when you need a rest and refreshments, our Galley Coffee Shop is on hand offering a range of hot and cold drinks, tasty sandwiches and snacks plus delicious sweet treats!

 

We have a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers who are excited and ready to share their expert knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with you, so come along for a wonderful day out at the Gatwick Aviation Museum. Making memories that last.

MUSEUMS ON THE AIR 2026 - SUN 21 JUNE

FATHERS' DAY SUN 21 JUNE 

The aim is to set up amateur radio special event stations at as many of the museums as possible - throughout the whole of the world! It's also a great way to showcase modern amateur radio. 

Why not come along and find out who the operators will be talking to worldwide and find out how you can get involved.

As a special treat for all those wonderful Dads out there, we'll be offering an experience in our Typhoon Motion Simulator Ride at the child price! 

CAPEL MILITARY SHOW - 
FRI 3 -SUN 5 JULY

We'll be at the Capel Military show again this year with a stand packed full of interesting aviation items to buy.

Including a diverse selection of aircraft instruments, books, posters, framed prints and airline memorabilia.  There's also a competition to win FREE tickets! Come and see us.

HOLIDAY CLUB
27 - 31 JULY 

Operated by British Young Pilots. 

Get ready for a truly unique aviation experience. This exciting 5-day holiday club combines hands-on aviation learning, simulator flying fast jets, airline operations, engineering, and air traffic control in one of the most inspiring aviation environments in the UK.

 

Led by highly experienced aviation professionals including Museum volunteer and Chief Instructor, Paul Facer — a former RAF Phantom and Tornado pilot with 17 years flying the Boeing 747 for Virgin Atlantic — students will gain real insight into both military and commercial aviation from pilots who have lived it.

During August, we'll be open every Thursday from 10am to 5pm as well as the usual Friday-Sunday.

*Thursday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th August*

The viewing area and coffee shop will be open as usual too.

VOLUNTEER WITH US

We're currently looking for volunteers who'd like to help run our Museum coffee shop on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

TANK DRIVING DAYS

The Museum is delighted to be partnering with SWB Experience Days in 2026, with tank driving and more available to book on dates in June, July, August and September.

You can also go for a tank passenger ride too. *Book on the day.
